Elytra Series - Fall 2012 !
I have been busy at the torch for the last month after the longest break away from the torch ever... This new design was burning its way into my brain! I hope you enjoy the newest series from the fires of Sage and Sprite!
Elytra Series
The Elytra series is a labour of love!
These beautiful blown borosilicate bobbles are made out of cane that I hand pulled myself! After layering colours on top of colours I pull a long cane that I snip into slices. Each slice or murrini is individually melted onto the blown core which is then shaped into a lovely hand held size vessel. (The whole process takes about 3hours from start to finish.) The beauty of this is that unlike dots place on top of opaque dots you get to see though the vessel for a wonderfully optic kaleidoscope effect. Colours are experimental and limited to the cane pulled. Most will not be repeated as a rainbow of alternatives awaits. So if you like a
combination grab it while you can.
